Friends Records continues its takeover of the Windup Space tomorrow with Run DMT, Microkingdom, Beyond Say, and Daytime. RSVP here, and to tonight's show here.
Sometimes when Daytime performs live, a large inflatable balloon is set up to encompass the crowd. This environment emulates how Daytime's recordings can make you feel.
Daytime's sound has always been deeply inverted, yet is still inflated with enough space to take you deep into the stratosphere. His newest release, Serendpity, is out soon.
Streaming above is "Blindspot", which makes up Side A of the forthcoming tape. Neal Reinalda describes this release as "Disney-Nirvana covered in syrup", perhaps an apt perspective to the new sculptured sounds. While it's most certainly ambient music, the presence felt appears to come from great distance - an intangible cosmic whirlwind that's impossible to ignore. There is something very commanding about Daytime, as Serendipity's ambiance remains inadvertently universal yet demandingly distant.
Daytime performs tomorrow at the Windup Space, pre-order the new tape here.
Happy year's end, folks. Hope its been a good one. We are pretty stoked for 2011.
Heading into the new year tonight, the Annex sports Beyond Say, Omoo Omoo, The Sneaks, INEVERYROOM, Teenage Souls, Whoar Frost, Mr.Moccasin, NARC, The Flying Eyes, and Future Peoples for NYE. It is BYOB and costs $8. Downtown at Rams Head you'll find our friend Mickey Free lighting up the stage with J Roddy Walston and the Business.

The kind folks at the Soft House passed along the flyer (above) for a an evening they are hosting this Sunday night. Lucky Dragons will be in town, and they'll be joined by the equally incredible Lichens. Also performing will be The Urxed (Rob from High Places) and Sft Stps, with John Jones (Each Others) DJing the affair.
Tonight marks the last show by Sick Weapons, a band that's been blasting ears and spilling drinks for the past couple years here in town that will surely be missed.
Even though tonight at the Golden West is their last show, there's still talk of their debut album being released at some point on Reptilian Records. The track above is a taste, and was shared with us earlier this year when I had the chance to interview Ellie Beziat.
They'll be joined by the stellar support of Witch Hat and Beyond Say. Starts at 10 PM.
The trio has released a 7 inch single with Impose Records, and a split cassette release on Breakfast of Champs with Weekends. The BOC tape featured a generous offering of Weekends live recordings, in addition to a handful of Total Slacker jams on the B-side.
"Stuck in 93" is short, sweet, and gets right the core of these folks. Sun-washed guitar squalls and simple floating melodies are at the forefront, while reverberated vocals are offered with reckless abandon. Not to say that there's no rhyme or reason to these sounds, as this band has developed a knack for lo-fi guitar fuzz with just the right amount of effort. These dudes are loafers to the fullest, and we approve.
Grab that tape here, and come out tomorrow night for a good time.
Based out of MICA, the new-in-2010 internet radio station WICV will be broadcasting from their booth at Artscape all day Friday through Sunday. What's better, is that they will also be hosting live performances at their booth both on Friday and Saturday.
Friday night features one of Baltimore's finest guitarists, Dustin Wong. He is preceded by the legendary Jason Urick, and the up and coming Beyond Say. Look for big things from Dustin Wong in the wings, as he continues to work on new solo material. Also, if you haven't yet snatched Jason Urick's Fussing & Fighting, please do so.
Saturday night is no slouch either, with Winks and Brendan Sullivan serenading Artscapers. Look for announcements here very soon regarding new Winks releases that are brewing as we speak.
The WICV Artscape Broadcast goes strong all day long on the midway on Charles Street, with performances, DJs, talk radio, tape collages, live drama, and more starting at noon each day. Get the entire broadcast schedule after the jump. WICV RADIO - ArtScape 2010 - Programming Schedule

Tonight there's a super solid one at the Pet Cemetary with Lands and Peoples, INEVERYROOM, Beyond Say, and Eachothers. Lands and Peoples and INEVERYROOM are amidst and eary summer mini-tour, but are making a quick stop in their hometown before they head off to West Virginia.
I was lucky enough to catch these guys play the Bushwick Rooftop Festival over the weekend, which was a whole mess of fun. On Sunday in Brooklyn the festival kicked off with a trio of Baltimore goodness as Lands and Peoples, INEVERYROOM, and Weekends all melted faces and hearts. The heavy sun on the black and crowded rooftop might have played a part in the melting too, but the bands all sounded pretty rad.
If you read this space often you're probably aware that I'm very familiar with Weekends and Lands and Peoples, but INEVERYROOM is a band I've only had the chance to see once or twice before this weekend. Here's a taste off of their current tour CDR...
Their psychedelic surf sounds prove to be extremely catchy, weaving in and out of intergalactic galaxies and into pop song structures with ease. These folks are a must-see, and I highly recommend snatching up their awesomely packaged CDR. They are also part of a tour cassette tape split with Lands and Peoples, a secret surprise Friends Records release that you can also snag tonight.
The show starts at 9 PM, and special guests are tentatively promised.
