Video: Major Lazer's "Hold the Line"

Woah. It appears Major Lazer is not in fact the combo of Diplo and Switch, but a half Dolemite and half G.I. Joe superpower that combats bad guys from Scooby Doo's travels.

Whatever the case, this video rocks. The hotly anticipated Major Lazer full length is due June 16th on Mad Decent. Soundtrack your vintage cartoon hero escapades accordingly.

Rye Rye / Blaqstarr Mixtape & New Major Lazer

Fresh off Diplo and Switch's upcoming LP under the Major Lazer moniker, "Hold the Line" is the first taste off this highly anticipated record. Mad Decent has the MP3 download for you folks, and describes it as a "surf rock ragga thingamajig". I describe it the same, with a heavy dose of club funk rock reggae awesomeness.

In other anticipated release news, Rye Rye and Blaqstarr just dropped their Blaqout mixtape.

You can check out the tracklist and download the whole jam right here compliments of Baltimore Club. The tape provides more sneak peaks into Rye Rye's debut album, but is mostly a club-soaked Blaqstarr affair with some remixes worth checking out.

Diplo x Switch = Major Lazer

The creation of Major Lazer was announced back in 2008, but the project's highly anticipated debut album is tentatively expected to drop June 16th on Downtown.

Major Lazer is the culmination of two of the world's most renowned DJs, Diplo and Switch. Philly by way of Baltimore by way of everywhere club genius Diplo seems to always have 900 things up his sleeve, but this project consisting of tweaked-out dancehall grooves has garnered the most anticipation of late.

The LP was to be Guns Don't Kill People-Lazers Do, but some debate over the title has recently been shared. Regardless, the album features Diplo and Switch standards M.I.A. and Santigold, and might even be cooler than a 1993 laser tag birthday party.
